Kurhaus Meran

This architectural jewel from the 19th century was built in the Art Nouveau style and has served as a venue for events and gatherings ever since. Tirol castle

The nearby Tirol castle, a former seat of the Tyrolean nobility and the namesake of the region, offers visitors a glimpse into the area’s chequered past. Its lovingly curated exhibits and picturesque setting make it a highlight of any Meran excursion. Our tip: The bus stop is just 200 metres from the entrance to Sonnenburg. Take line 1 to Meran Kaiserhof and then line 236 to Thurnstein castle. From here, the hiking trail takes you to Tirol castle.

Passirio/Passer river promenade

It divides Meran into two halves and is both a lifeline and a landmark: the Passirio/Passer river.  The idyllic promenade that runs along its banks is one of the most beautiful in the city. Lush palm trees, magnificent flowerbeds, or the enchanting Christmas market – the Passirio/Passer river promenade is varied and perfect for discovering the city in style. The cosy cafés and inviting bars that line the walk are perfect for a break. Our tip: Take two walks along the Passirio/Passer river promenade.  There’s always something new to discover.
